It sounds as if you are currently using the trial version of the software. All you need to do is activate the full version of the software with the license key provided by GOTD. Within the software program there will be a "Register" tab simply copy and paste the license key, and you will have a full functioning version, and you will be able to lock and unlock any file type or folders.

Make sure you are using the full version of the software. If you have not unlocked the full version with the license key provided, you will be limited to only locking and unlocking .doc files. To unlock the full version, please copy and past the license key provided by GOTD and enter it in the "Register" box located in the left hand navigation of the product.

I agree. I found with a new computer it makes sense to download "OpenOffice" that has the same functionality as Windows office for free. It is open source free ware that you can use with any Microsoft .doc, etc. You can save them in .doc format and MS products before office 7. It was originally done at Sun Microsystems before Oracle bought them. It's native suffix for the Word type files is ODF (Open Document Format), There are different products in OpenOffice. The .calc are OO version of Excel. There are products that duplicate Access (using MySQL, if I am not mistaken.) There is the presentation tool also. It is a full suite of products that do the same thing, but for free.
